How to Change the Oil
Follow these steps to perform an oil change on your generator:
Before You Begin
Make sure the generator is turned off, has cooled down, and is placed on a level surface before starting.
Caution: Worn out or dirty oil can prevent proper cooling and may cause serious engine damage.
Step 1: Remove the Drain Plug
Using a 12 mm hex wrench, loosen and remove the oil drain plug.
The drain plug is located on the crankcase, underneath the oil filler/dipstick cap.
Step 2: Drain the Oil
Allow all of the old oil to drain completely from the generator into an approved oil disposal container.
Dispose of used oil properly according to local regulations. A local auto parts store may provide disposal guidance.
Step 3: Reinstall the Drain Plug
Once the oil has fully drained, reinstall the oil drain plug.
Tighten it securely using a 12 mm hex wrench.
Step 4: Refill with New Oil
Remove the oil filler/dipstick cap and add the correct type and amount of new oil for your generator model.
Fill carefully and avoid overfilling.
Step 5: Check the Oil Level
Use the dipstick to confirm the oil level is within the recommended range.
Add more oil if needed.
Step 6: Secure the Oil Cap and Inspect
Reinstall the oil filler/dipstick cap securely.
Start the generator briefly and check for any leaks around the drain plug.
Important Notes
Change the oil at the intervals recommended in your owner’s manual.
If the oil appears contaminated with water or dirt, drain it immediately.
Always use the oil type recommended for your specific generator model.
