What are our water pumps impellers made from?

The DuroMax water pumps will have a cast iron impeller and volute.

Can you pump hot water with your water pump?

No, hot water can damage the engine. The water temperature fed to the water pump should never exceed 104°F.

What weight oil should be used in our water pumps?

The water pump models can use 15W-40 oil in synthetic or conventional depending on climate.

What are your water pump bodies made of?

DuroMax water pumps bodies are made of cast aluminum.

What kind of fittings do your water pumps use?

The water pump hose fittings feature standard NPT threading.

How do I prime my water pump?

The DuroMax high pressure water pump is self priming. The semi-trash pumps will require that you fill the pump body and suction hose full of water before starting.

How much pressure do your water pumps have?

The high pressure water pump is 116 PSI, DuroMax semi-trash pumps are rated in gallons per minute and can be damaged if pressurized.

What size grit can pass through the water pump?

DuroMax semi-trash water pumps will pass 1/4 grit, the high pressure pumps are intended for clean water.

What type of gasoline can be used in your water pumps?

We recommend using clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an 87 Octane or greater with a 10% or less ethanol. Ethanol free gas is preferred if available.

Can I use a smaller hose than the pump fitting size?

No, reducing the hose will pressurize the pump body and may cause permanent damage.
