In regards to the topic of running a Central AC with a portable generator, The following are suggestions based off existing customers that have used our generators to run their AC. First,  It will depend on the size of the Central AC.   For example, A 3 Ton to 4 Ton should be capable of being used with a XP13000 watt series and a 5 ton, would best be used with a XP15000 series. Please note, without having full specifications of your AC unit, we cannot provide a definitive answer to your setup. With that being said, We do always recommend to have an electrician install a Soft start to the AC unit to help out with the initial surge load. With large appliances such as Central AC's they do require a lot of power to get up to speed, by having the Soft start will help the generator during the peak power demand from the AC.
