What does the term "Hybrid" or "Dual Fuel" mean?

The terms "Hybrid" and "Dual Fuel" on our generators are describing our generators ability to run on both propane or gasoline.

Where are our generators made?

Our generators will be designed by our engineering team in Ontario, California, and built overseas to our specifications.

Do your electric start generators come with a battery?

Yes, all our electric start generator models include the 12V battery needed for the electric start. The battery is disconnected on arrival to make sure it keeps a charge.

Can you convert our dual fuel generators to natural gas?

DuroMax does not have natural gas conversion kits available. Any use of aftermarket parts will void the generator warranty.

How can I make my generator quieter?

DuroMax generators are equipped with oversized automotive style mufflers to reduce noise as much as possible. The noise generated is due to the engine and not the muffler. We don't recommend the use of any 3rd party muffler silencers to lower noise.

Do your dual fuel generators include the propane regulator and propane hose?

Yes, all our dual fuel generators will include the propane regulators and propane hose with a standard QCC1 ACME Style Connector.

What is the difference between DuroMax and DuroStar model variants?

DuroMax and DuroStar are sister brands. Both are built to the same quality and standards. Please note specifications may vary from model to model.

What are the Natural Gas Fuel Pressure and BTU Requirements for Tri-Fuel Generators?

Our Tri-Fuel Generators require fuel pressure at all load ranges to be 6.0 - 9.0 inches of water column for Natural Gas. For proper performance, check your generator’s BTU requirements as the following are the recommended specs depending on series. •

When should I change the oil on my DuroMax Engine in my Generator/Water Pump/Pressure Washer?

While we recommend checking the oil level before every use, the initial oil change during break-in should be completed at 8 hours of use. Then regular maintenance oil changes should be completed every 100 hours of residential use and every 50 hours f

Can these generators be hooked directly to a transfer switch or interlock?

Yes, all our generator models will be compatible with a transfer switch or interlock kit.

How long can my generator run continuously?

The generator can run continuously for as long as fuel is supplied to it, but the generator will still need to be shut down momentarily to perform the scheduled maintenance recommendations shown in the generator manual as the maintenance becomes due.

Can I vent my generator exhaust from an enclosed area?

How do I connect the generator to my home?

Can I hook my dual fuel generator up to my large home propane tank?

Yes, all of our dual fuel generators will be capable of hooking up to a home propane tank as long as your using the original propane hose and regulator provided in the connection, and feeding the generator the correct PSI based on the model. Please s

We currently do NOT offer remote start kits for our generators at this time that are not equipped with this feature from the manufacture. However, the following series below are equipped with a remote start from the manufacture.

What will happen if the generator gets overloaded?

All our DuroMax generators will be equipped with an overload protection breaker that will flip and cut off the power in the event of an overload.

What is the input pressure requirement for our generators to operate on propane?

All our dual fuel generators 5500 watt or lower will require 11 inches of water column to operate properly, and all our dual fuel generators 8500 watt or larger will require at least 3 PSI of pressure to operate properly. Please ensure you use the or

How should the generator be shut off after the power comes back on?

What does the recharge indicator light mean?

The recharge indicator light on our generators is just letting you know that the generator is recharging its onboard battery and this light will stay on until the 12V battery is recharged to 12.6V or greater.

If the battery dies in an electric start generator, can it still start with the recoil start?

What type of gasoline is recommended in our generators?

We recommend using clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an 87 Octane or greater with a 10% or less ethanol cut.

Does the generator need to be grounded with a grounding rod?

Not normally for backup home power. This answer can vary by location. Please consult a certified electrician for local grounding codes in your area.

Can you use synthetic oil in our generators?

Yes, you can use any 30W, 10W-30, or 5W-30 synthetic oil in our generators after the break in period.

DuroMax XP9000iH Remote Start Issue
