Does the generator automatically recharge the 12V battery while running?Updated a month ago

Does the Generator Recharge the 12V Battery While Running?

Yes. All DuroMax electric-start generators are designed to automatically recharge the onboard 12V battery while the generator is running.

The generator’s charging system will supply power to the battery during operation to help maintain its charge.

Charging Time

The time required to recharge the battery can vary depending on the current battery charge level.

In most cases, the battery can take up to approximately 2 hours to recharge, depending on how depleted the battery was before starting the generator.

Does the Battery Recharge if I Use Pull Start?

Yes. Even if you start the generator using the recoil pull starter, the battery will still recharge automatically once the generator is running.

The charging system operates whenever the engine is running, regardless of the starting method used.

Common Questions

Do I need to charge the battery separately?

Normally, no. The battery will recharge automatically while the generator is operating.

However, if the generator has been stored for long periods, the battery may need to be charged or maintained with a battery charger.

Why won’t my battery recharge?

If the battery does not recharge while the generator is running, possible causes may include:

  • A depleted or damaged battery

  • Loose battery connections

  • Charging system issues
