Generator not producing ElectricityUpdated 7 months ago

If you happen to be having issues with your generator running but not producing electricity, please follow the suggested tips down below. You can also visit the direct article on this in order to help with giving you step by step instructions on what to check in order to help with the issue you are having with the generator. (Click Here) For step by step instructions with troubleshooting the unit not producing electricity

  1. Check the generator meter display for proper voltage. Depending on model, you should see 120v or 240v on the display

  2. If voltage is NOT proper, we would recommend to inspect the windings, voltage regulator and brushes for damages or burnt marks.
    (See Image Below)
To inspect these parts, Remove the two screws from the end cap (Image 1). That will then expose the Voltage Regulator (AVR), Brushes and Stator & Rotor.
  3. If voltage is proper , we would recommend that you check that all the breakers are in the ON position
See Image Below for Reference (Please note panel will vary depending on model)
  4. If you are having no power from a particular outlet, please test other outlets from the panel in order to determine if there is an issue only from one of the outlets or the entire panel.

  5. Inspect that the generator cord / extension cables are not damages or defective.

Potential Part Replacements Based off Symptoms:

VOLTAGE REGULATOR & BRUSHES:  If you do not see proper volts from the meter on the panel and the stator & Rotor is in good condition, and breakers are operating correctly on the panel may require for these parts to be replaced.

STATOR AND ROTOR: If you noticed that the stator and rotor windings are burnt. Would require for this part to be replaced.

Complete PANEL:  If the panel is completely dead (NO POWER) / or Damaged would require for this part to be replaced.

 PANEL Components:
If the panel shows proper voltage, then issue is likely in the breaker, receptacles, or other panel components of the panel that may require replacement parts.
